You love the look of a clean, white kitchen, but you also appreciate a little color. So what to do? Hide a splash of color inside your cabinets! More
Alex and Alina had a "shoebox" of a kitchen in Washington, D.C. with zero counter space and minimal storage options. Thanks to Alina's "resourceful Macgyver dad," though, a few hooks and storage units from IKEA transformed the space into something charming and usable. As she tells Apartment Therapy in this House Tour, "We can hang pots and pans and utensils and there's a little hanging bread box and a place to hang champagne and wine glasses and spices." See more photos below. Lots of good ideas here! More
Prior to its renovation, the kitchen in this 1,200-square-foot Austin fixer-upper suffered from poor design and a lot of wasted space. The boxy cabinets fit awkwardly on the wall, and the muddy grays were tired. The owners knew they'd need to "put the walls to work" when they overhauled it, and did they ever! Check out the stunning 'After' photo below: More
When you learn you're about to look at a 5,000-square-foot apartment in New York City, you know you're going to see something pretty spectacular. Kris' Upper East Side home doesn't disappoint. From the grand piano to the orange corduroy-covered media room (!), it's all part of Kris' style: "a mix of classic modern silhouettes paired with unexpected statement pieces either from (or inspired by) the 70s and 80s." His kitchen fits this description, too! See more photos below: More
Stephen "Scuba" Clark is a resourceful handyman. His Phoenix home is full of upgrades and projects he's done himself... with his friends! As he tells Apartment Therapy, all of his friends have "great style and uniqueness" and every project was done with their help. This includes the leather cabinet pulls in the kitchen! Do you keep a tray near the stove to corral oils, spices, and cooking utensils? We went through our Kitchen Tour archives and found a lot of examples. If you prefer certain groupings of foods or pantry items, adding a tray underneath just makes it that much neater — and helps keep drips and spills from building up on your counter. More
This serene, lovely kitchen is elegance itself. Part of a palatial duplex in Back Bay, Boston, and featured in this Apartment Therapy House Tour back in 2011, the home is full of polished marble, hand-painted Chinoiserie walls, chandeliers, and secret rooms. We love the kitchen, though, particularly the warm grey walls, white marble countertops, and wood floors. More
I've always loved Victoria Smith's (of sfgirlbybay) personal style. She calls it "bohemian modern" but there's a lot of black and white, a lot of wood. Her new rental kitchen is the perfect example: the wood cabinets are nothing fancy — they look like basic contractor-grade cabinets — but she really made it work by creating a strong, neutral palette around it. Of course, plenty of light doesn't hurt! See more photos below: More
We've talked before about the best way to store potatoes, onions, and other root vegetables. If you've got the space and wherewithal, it doesn't get much better than these storage drawers. Deep baskets keep onions and potatoes separate - and neat! (No floating onion skins cluttering the cabinets.) There's even a bread box. Don't mind if we do! More
How lovely would it be to cook in this kitchen, with the lake and a grove of pine trees out your window and plenty of light streaming through the skylights? Not to mention those beautiful deep-red cabinets and wood all around you: antique oak floors, recycled barn-board walls, pine ceiling planks. The owners say the house is "magic," and we believe it.
