If you need extra storage in your kitchen, it doesn't get much simpler than a basic wire shelving unit. You can find tall units for around $60 at Home Depot, and with five or more shelves per unit, that's plenty of space to work with. But if you've always thought they were better suited for storing, say, golf bags out in the garage, then these photos may surprise you. Wire shelves in the kitchen can be both practical and stylish! MoreIt's Monday, folks, and once again I'm talking about color. I know, I know — it's been on my mind a lot lately. But spring is blooming, and color is inescapable right now. So for today's color question, I bring you this: would you ever paint your kitchen door in a different color? Preferably something bold and bright, like a shocking red or a glowing, golden yellow?
MoreWould you ever have multi-colored cabinets in your kitchen? It's definitely a bold choice, and requires a sense of whimsy, a little adventure, and someone who is very comfortable with color. In the right space, I think it's fun and enlivening. What do you think? See more photos below:
MoreRalph and Julie live in a spacious apartment in Berlin’s Kreuzberg neighborhood. It's a dream space (handed down to them from a family friend) that retains many of the original period details you'd expect in an Altbau Berlin apartment. The standout detail, though, is the bright, glossy green floor in the kitchen — a last-minute DIY project that completely makes the whole space! So cool.
More"We are inspired by objects that are both functional and beautiful, that tell a story through their materiality, where they came from or the artists who made them," say Brad and Julie about their style in this Apartment Therapy House Tour. Their kitchen encompasses that, too, from the utilitarian stainless steel counters to the sleek backsplash and minimal clutter. (Just the essentials are out!) Top it off with one wall that's all windows, and you've got a clean, modern kitchen that works perfectly for this family of three (soon to be four!). See more photos below:

Looking for a fresh idea for how to store your pots and pans when you've run out of space in the cupboards? Repurpose a ladder as a pot rack! As far as small space storage solutions go, this is a nice twist on the more common wall or ceiling mounted pot rack or pegboard. It reminds me of this copper pipe utensil rack, but on a larger scale. What do you think? Would you ever try it?
For a simple spring place setting at your next dinner, look to the farmers' market and a bunch of hot pink radishes! Tie two radishes — leaves intact! — with twine and place on top of a cloth napkin. I particularly like them paired with a pea green napkin; so lovely and fresh!
Sarah and Fred's Berkeley kitchen is full of conversation pieces, from their large collection of plants to the wonderful white Wedgewood stove. The kitchen is spacious and airy, with plenty of room to cook, mix drinks (check out that bar car!) and eat around the table. See more photos below:
MoreThink all food bloggers have fancy, designer kitchens? As Ashlae of Oh Ladycakes will tell you, that's not the case! She's actually a little embarrassed by her Denver rental kitchen. "People come over to the house and expect something immaculate," she tells Apartment Therapy, "and they’re like, 'Oh, this is where you do all of your baking?' Yep." But we say: cheers to that! We like a cook who isn't deterred by her kitchen's shortcomings. (We all have them!)
