While it may not be as dramatic as this art wall, I still admire the effect this shelf of paintings has on the dining room. Because they're leaning against the wall (not hanging), the overall feel is a little relaxed, despite the relative formality and weight of the paintings. Varying sizes and styles also keep it interesting, and break up the monotony of the white wall. What do you think?

We're accustomed to seeing dressers in the bedroom, and sometimes even in the living or dining room. Often antique, dressers are an attractive storage piece for non-clothing items, too, like blankets and table linens. So it shouldn't come as a surprise to see them popping up in kitchens! Whether used as an island, extra counter space, or just to store cookware, freestanding dressers can be an interesting visual element in a kitchen, as well as a practical storage solution. More

I am short.  Never made it to 5’4" — thus my dreams of becoming a long-legged, ballet dancer at Julliard turned into an application for culinary school.  Nevertheless, there is still lots of dancing and constant choreography my kitchen. I can create a sauce with poise and handle a knife with equal aplomb but there is nothing graceful about the kitchen tool I use almost as often as my knife  — my kitchen stool. 

How charming is this teaspoon wallpaper? Designed by Studio Ditte, the wallpaper "tells a tale of elegant spoons, forks for posh cakes and old keys of forgotten rooms." We've been on a bit of a chart kick this week. What's not to love? Anytime we can look to a handy infographic to tell us what we'd otherwise spend a few minutes googling is to us a far better use of time, no? This wine chart is one such infographic. It's not the be-all-end-all of wine and food pairings (and serious aficionados will want to nitpick, and that's fine) but it is a good starting point. More

For years Steph and Phil had been looking for the perfect dining room table — one that was "stylish, clean lined, family friendly, reasonably priced, big enough to accommodate our friends for dinner and also where our piles of home projects and kids artwork and homework can build up in piles..." as they told Apartment Therapy.
