Panna is a brand new bi-monthly digital cooking magazine that comes to your iPad through a free app and it is, quite frankly, amazing. In my opinion, app-based cooking media has so far been clunky and too derivative of print media. Panna founder David Ellner, on the other hand, created a video-based cooking magazine that takes full advantage of up-to-the-minute technology to give the kind of hands-on instruction that's often needed to make a recipe truly useful. Uh-oh. On Thursday Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia announced it was dramatically scaling back two of its four magazines and laying off 12 percent of its company, which is about 70 employees. Both Everyday Food and Whole Living will be see significant cuts and changes. More
You don't find perfect lines in the natural world of fruits and vegetables—it's all uneven curves and waves and organic shapes—which is why it's striking to see Turkish artist Sakir Gökçebag's food art. His visual displays are made up of fruits and vegetables that he's carefully cut and arranged to show a type of geometry not found in the natural world, and all without any digital manipulation.
