I am a huge fan of the slow cooker. It's not for everyone, but for me, I love being able to assemble a slow-cooker meal in the morning (when I have time) and know that it will be hot and delicious by dinner (when time is in short commodity). I've gotten pretty good at spotting recipes with slow-cooker potential over the years. Here's my best advice.

Q: What are the best dairy substitutes for savory recipes? As in cheese- or cream-based dishes? I've read about replacing milk with almond milk or coconut milk for baking and sweet foods, but they sound like they would be too sweet for a pasta sauce or casseroles.
What was happening this time last year? Glad you asked! We had cocktails of both the fresh spring variety and of the non-alcoholic sort. We had cornmeal-lime cookies to nibble and guacamole to make.
