Yesterday I checked out the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, an annual trade show highlighting what's new in design. It's not a kitchen-focused show, but I like going to see what's exciting for the dining room. A big reveal at this year's show was the brand-new Stockholm dining table and chairs from IKEA, made of walnut and due in stores in August! See more photos below:
While there's a lot to love about a dramatic light fixture hanging over the dining room table — I'm still smitten with these copper pendants — I always go back to a simple, classic drum shade pendant. For a simple spring place setting at your next dinner, look to the farmers' market and a bunch of hot pink radishes! Tie two radishes — leaves intact! — with twine and place on top of a cloth napkin. I particularly like them paired with a pea green napkin; so lovely and fresh!

Because they're leaning against the wall (not hanging), the overall feel is a little relaxed, despite the relative formality and weight of the paintings. Varying sizes and styles also keep it interesting, and break up the monotony of the white wall. What do you think?

I immediately fell in love with this West Philadelphia dining room. How lovely are those floor-to-ceiling bay windows? Unless you have a private yard, it might be a little too revealing at nighttime, but I would love to have a lazy breakfast at that table, looking out at all the flowers and foliage. What about you?
