On one of my very first forays into journalism, I was tasked with interviewing some local Atlanta lifestyle celebrities about comfort foods and one interview in particular has stuck with me. This week it once again popped into my mind giving me the ideal drink idea for our 10- Minute Happy Hour. More
I was a vegetarian for years and years and truthfully, even today, turkey isn't at all my favorite part of Thanksgiving. And ham doesn't do much for me at Christmas. Instead, I tend to geek out over new vegetable side dishes and flavor-filled herby stuffing. But I remember the days where it did feel like vegetarian options were slim at the holiday table. They don't have to be. More
It's fall, and time to indulge my love of all things pumpkin. Pumpkin pasta, pumpkin gratin, pumpkin pie, that ever-popular pumpkin spice latte and — perhaps most of all — pumpkin muffins. I love having a warm, tender muffin in the morning for breakfast. These fit the the bill, spiced and moist. But fall will be over so quickly, and winter will be here, so I decided to make sure these would carry through properly to the holidays! Why not a little swirl of eggnog-flavored cream cheese? Pumpkin and eggnog? This is one clash of holiday flavors that I love, and I hope you will too! More
Q: I'm in search of the perfect pizzelle recipe — any suggestions? I tried one I found, which used butter not oil. It wasn't bad but I'm sure the readers could do better.

Oh, monkey bread! How we love you — little pull-apart nuggets of buttery, gooey cinnamon goodness. And I've been thinking about how easy monkey bread is when you've been making pizza! What? How are they related? Well, leftover pizza dough is a perfect base for monkey bread and other breakfast treats. And even if you haven't been making pizza lately, store-bought, ready-made pizza dough is also a way to get these into the oven (and into your mouth!) that much quicker. More
Have you ever smacked your forehead in December, wishing that you had started a DIY food gift earlier? Well, now is the time to do exactly that. Things like homemade vanilla and booze-spiked fruits are best when given several months to steep and mellow - not to mention the infamous fruitcake (which can be really delicious when you make it yourself). Have you ever wondered what cinnamon-less cinnamon rolls would taste like? Why aren't there more recipes for sticky, gooey, sweet breakfast rolls without cinnamon or caramel? There are so many other good options! So, craving a buttery, flaky breakfast bun and the sweet, tangy, taste of lemon, we made one up. More
Q: In the 16th century in England mince pies were banned from being eaten on Christmas Day, and the law still exists today (albeit a non-enforced one). Possibly to work around this silly law all mince pie recipes have excluded meat. I would like to try a meat mincemeat, and I once saw a recipe somewhere but can no longer locate it. The recipe said the mincemeat needed to be made 6 months in advance. I want to make a test batch in time for Easter, so I can make the final batch in time for Christmas. Do you know a good meat mincemeat recipe for Christmas mince pies?
