With Nate Berkus premiering his very own television show next week, we thought we would take a look at the incredible kitchens he has designed (and lived in). We'll start in Chicago and move straight to Milan since we have our heads in Italy here at The Kitchn this week: More

It's an exciting time for independent food artisans in Chicago, with lots of interest and support surrounding their unique products. One store that has long supported these entrepreneurs is Provenance Food and Wine. It's our favorite place to shop for the newest and tastiest products in Chicago. More

We're talking dessert this week, and what goes better with something sweet than a good cup of coffee, or maybe some tea? In Chicago, one of our favorite sources is The Coffee & Tea Exchange, a quirky little corner shop with a great selection. More

If you're one who likes to spend lunch at a cafe, Chicago's First Slice Cafe is a good choice, especially if you like to end your lunch with a slice of pie (and really, who doesn't?). Located in the Lillstreet Art Center, the cafe shares a space with the gallery store where you can find one-of-a-kind dishes and serving pieces made by artists who have come through the center. More

Although Kansas City is known for its abundance of meat and potatoes, we also have a hidden gem of an Asian grocery store. Although it smells a little strange and unfamiliar when you first walk in (hey, we're honest), they have tastes and flavors that can't be found anywhere else in the city. We brought our camera along for our last visit to give you a peek inside! More

Top Chef Stephanie Izard is a little obsessed with goat. Perhaps it's because her last name is a type of Pyrenees mountain goat in French. Or maybe she just finds it delicious. Stephanie stopped by the new Kenmore Studio in Chicago last night to make a batch of Salted Goat Caramel – a sweet/savory sauce that could be served with a variety of dishes. We've got the recipe below. More

Some market/cafés seem to be more of one than the other – a shop with a couple of tables and a small menu, or a restaurant with a few retail selections. Both are perfectly fine, but Marion Street Cheese Market seems to have a foot planted firmly on each side. Of course, here at The Kitchn, we're most interested in what we can bring home to cook with and serve ourselves. On our recent visit, we found quite a bit. More

2010_02_04-jackson.jpgWe were so excited to see the latest issue of Dwell, because the kitchen on the cover looks very familiar! It's Art and Chelsea's loft in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood, which we featured here last summer. More

2010_01_21-soup-and-bread.jpgWe love a book with a good story and a worthy social cause behind it, but even more than that, we love a great collection of recipes. Soup recipes, in particular, these days. We found all of these things in the Soup & Bread Cookbook. More

2010_01_15-CROP-1.jpgWhen you walk through a supermarket produce section or farmers' market, it may seem like there is a wide variety of fruit available, but there are actually thousands of varieties of tree fruit that aren't commercially grown. The Chicago Rarities Orchard Project is working to bring some of those varieties back to the spotlight. More on that below, plus a family recipe for quince paste! More
