If you use ice in your smoothies, you might like the frosty texture but not the way it tends to water down flavors. Here's a tasty alternative: ice cubes made from coconut water. More
Q: I'm pregnant and probably the thing I miss most is my occasional glass of bourbon! I have other beverages so I don't feel too left out, but I really miss that smokey, rich, slightly sweet taste of bourbon. I know nothing will be the same, but I've been trying to think of a beverage or "mocktail" that might give a similar experience. Any ideas?

It seems we're smack in the middle of cold and flu season, and with that comes the dreaded sore throat. Alongside kitchen staples like honey and lemon, we like to reach for sage, which can be used to make a comforting tea. More
Once a year, usually late December or early January, we receive a case of the sweetest pink grapefruits delivered to our doorstep. At first we love them. For breakfast, in salads, in cake and juiced. Then our citrus enthusiasm slowly begins to wane. There's no avoiding the mound of softball- sized fruits each time I step into the kitchen. As with anything abundant in our culinary arsenal over to the bar they went. I decided it was time for them to have a go at the shaker. More
For Christmas this year, my dad sent my two sisters and I a letter asking if there's anything we'd really like. Each of us is well into adulthood and he mentioned that because he doesn't see us as often as he once did, he struggles around this time of year when thinking about gifts. I responded with one word: booze. More
