WHY MY SMALL KITCHEN IS COOL: We transformed a dismal blue and white tiled room with zero usable storage space into a warm, happy, and functional kitchen. Now that we've decorated, cooking in there makes me feel at home in a foreign country. There's also a great view of the mountains from the kitchen window.

WHY MY SMALL KITCHEN IS COOL: My kitchen is cool in its uncoolness! It's not slick and modern, but it fits perfectly with my personality and the feel of the entire apartment (which is in a converted 1910s rowhouse that still has most of the original detail and character)

WHY MY SMALL KITCHEN IS COOL: Our kitchen is extremely functional because of its size. We are able to have all of our smaller appliances and gadgets tucked away in the cabinets. What helps make this kitchen so cool, is that we have the most beautiful views of our backyard and the mountains from the bay window. More

WHY MY SMALL KITCHEN IS COOL: Our kitchen is very efficient and eclectic. All the surfaces are prepping surfaces - reclaimed bowling alley island and black walnut butcher block counters. We wanted a cook's kitchen that would double as a social center for the house. We put most of our budget toward opening the layout (including exposing the original 1818 barn board ceiling) and did the finishes on a tight budget by finding cool reclaimed materials.
