Take a look at these new colors from Le Creuset — purple! What do you think?
"Lilac" (the lighter purple shade) and "Cassis" (the darker, greyish purple) are two new colors from Le Creuset, currently only available at Sur La Table.
It looks like the Lilac color is only available in the stoneware pieces, like the bakers and the pitcher (which we really like, by the way, as it can hold hot or cold beverages).
The Cassis color, on the other hand, has been applied to all the classic Dutch oven and skillet pieces, like the braiser, oval and round Dutch ovens, and square skillet. We like this darker color — it's more sophisticated than eggplant but still colorful and rich. Our heart still belongs to the gleaming black colorway, though.
Take a closer look at some of these pieces here:
• Stoneware Pitchers in Lilac or Cassis, $24.95 at Sur La Table
• Stoneware Rectangular Bakers in Lilac or Cassis, $29.95-35.95 at Sur La Table
• Square Grill Pan in Cassis, $89.95 at Sur La Table
• Oval French Oven in Cassis, $259.95 at Sur La Table
More Le Creuset Colors:
• Citron
• Black and White
• Slate
• Caribbean
• Dijon Yellow

TW Salt Mill by Wil...

I picked up two of the rectangular stoneware bakers at Sur La Table a few weeks ago...they are fantastic!
Loooove!
I love Le Creuset so much it's painful. I want one in every color!
must.have.every.single.one.
Please fix link, I would like to see the gleaming black colorway you mentioned.... Although the cooking school article was interesting.
BTW LOVE the Cassis colour!
I love the Cassis color. I don't have any Le Creuset stuff right now, but am looking into getting a dutch oven-type thing. Hmm...
Drool! :)~
I hope the Cassis colour will come to Norway as well!
*crossing my fingers and toes*
Completely beautiful! I can't stop looking at it...
Love. L.O.V.E.
Absolutely beautiful and it will fit in so well with different kitchen schemes.
Wow. So pretty. That dark purple is the most stunning colour. The lilac is a little too feminine for me, but wow, cassis.
That purple is beautiful! But I still like my "granite" better. Thanks again sweetheart, if you are reading this!
LOVE the cassis color. Reminds me of eggplant. Me want.
I super stinking love the 'cassis', yes it reminds me of an aubergine in of itself and like most le creu' colours, is timeless!!
I don't like purple, but the cassis is a deep enough purple that it's really pretty
The Cassis is gorgeous, but I'm sticking with the red pieces I have. It's too expensive to jump on every new color.
Looove the Cassis. Gorgeous!
I really want to get a Le Creuset Dutch Oven in the cassis color. Now, I just need to know what size to get. I don't have any dutch ovens yet so does anyone have a recommendation on what I should start with?
Thanks!
i am not a big fan of purple but i do LOVE le creuset. i really want that dutch oven... :(

GORGEOUS! Gosh, I'd love to have a set of that. I'd use the purple for spring/summer, and keep my good old set of orange for fall/winter.
I'll buy just about anything purple . . . love it!!
Blech, blech, blech. Love Le Creuset. REALLY dislike the purple.
LOVE at FIRST SIGHT!!!!! My favorite color!!!!
PURPLE! i just gasped with delight. i'm soooo glad i've been putting off splurging for a dutch oven. now is the time!
I like the cassis, but I don't think food looks good on purple plates.
love it; got some for xmas too
I am DIGGIN the Cassis.
I'm firmly committed to the red/cerise still, but yep, the cassis is nice too. Waaaah though, that you guys in the US get so much more choice than we do here in Aus!!!
(postage on Le Creuset is a killer ;-p)
I used to hate purple, now I LOVE everything purple. These are gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.
(But I REALLY want to see the gleaming black you're so fond of. So, please, fix the link!)
Oh, just saw the note on the link! It's fixed. It was linked in the related links too - the black and white colors were in one post.
I LOVE the purple. Too bad all my le creuset is in cobalt....
Love the cassis color! I have a cream colored oval dutch oven, but it's such a pretty color. I want it.
I don't like that color near most foods. It acts like an appetite suppressant to me. (although I suppose for me that could be a good thing)
I LOVE the cassis. Wish you would do a giveaway for this. (and wish i would win)
I wish I could re-glaze my LeCreuset ware... I love red, but not that much red. I'm in love w/the cream color.
I wish they had it a year ago! I was shopping for a cast iron for my friend as a wedding gift. She likes purple but LC didn't have this color!
I ended up getting her a Staub.
15 year old me would probably never believe that 30 year old me would drool over kitchenware... but suck it, 15 year old me, cos that's what i'm doing now! love both shades of purple!
Drat. Wish the Cassis had been available when I bought mine last year.
I love the color but I agree that food doesn't look very appetizing in it. Picture a brownish braise or stew in it and you will get my point. Food looks even worse in the Misty Lilac as there were pictures posted of it being used on FlickR. The lighter color is called Misty Lilac and it is available at some signature stores in the cast iron and also abroad. They need a beautiful celadon green. The jade color they used to have was much prettier in the stoneware. Wish they would do that shade in the iron. A shaded, soft, lighter French blue would also be gorgeous.
I didn't know that i like the deep color of purple in dishes until now! Wow!
I admit that I broke down and went and bought a Cassis baker after writing this post. (It was a present to myself for finishing my book on casseroles! One more casserole dish!) I don't usually think of purple as a color I am drawn to, but there is something about this one that is really beautiful.
Also, food looks quite good in it in person -- maybe it's just because I love eggplant and this reminds me of eggplant and late summertime!
Purple has always been a favorite color, but food is perpetually appetizing in Black Onyx Le Creuset. I have not been able to resist building quite a collection--unfortunately, I seem to be running out of space. Highly recommend the Black Onyx - looks stunning on a black cooktop, too!
