Apparently, beer is great for hair! The creators, Brad and Sarah Pearsall, got the idea from their mothers, who washed their hair with beer in the 50's for more body and luster. The more they looked into the idea, the more they realized that there was some scientific basis for the effect of beer on hair and skin.
As Brad and Sarah point out on their website, beer is called liquid bread for good reason. A bottle of beer is chock full of vitamins, minerals, and proteins from the malts and yeasts used in the brewing process. Hops are also a natural preservative and their essential oils are great for hair and skin health. So...why not?!
Beer columnist Evan Benn at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch gave the beer shampoo a try and is now a believer. He said it made his hair feel light and clean—and no, it definitely didn't make him smell like a frat house!
Bröö can be found online and at Whole Foods. The shampoo and conditioner come in "Craft Brew" and "Citrus Pale Ale" scents, while the bodywash comes in "Citrus Pale Ale" and "Oatmeal Porter."
