Q: I am looking for a hip cool water pitcher for my fridge. It does not need a filter since I have a sink mounted Brita. In fact I prefer it filter less. It'll just hold water.
I saw one from Japan at DWR that had charcoal and stones that supposedly gave the water miracle qualities. I don't need that but the design was great. The problem though is it held only 30 ounces. I need something that doesn't need refilling every 5 hours. Any recommendations of water pitchers with a nice aesthetic would be awesome.

Editor: David, yes that pitcher from Design With Reach is very good-looking. Here are a few others we found that are fairly clean-lined.
Pictured above, left to right:
• Stainless steel shiny water pitcher - Holds 60 ounces. $29.95 at CB2
• Chill-it pitcher by wmf - Holds 44 ounces. $120 at Unica Home
• Duos glass pitcher - Holds 50 ounces. $30 at Unica Home
We also really like these inexpensive SLOM bottles from IKEA. We actually keep several of these filled with water in the fridge all the time. Readers, any more suggestions for David?

Straw Mat from The ...

Glass pitchers always look so fragile to me. It seems like their handles would snap right off if they so much as tapped the side of my sink. And ones that are nice and sturdy are usually super-heavy (not the greatest when you have to fill it full of water, which is already really heavy).
That said, I love the koi pitchers from GurglePot. Whimsical and charming--a great conversation piece, too! http://www.delight.com/GurglePot-Lovely-Koi-Pitcher
I love the Vignelli carafe from the Met Store, but it's only 32 ounces: http://store.metmuseum.org/For-the-Table/Vignelli-Glass-Carafe/invt/80003526
I agree with Dave about the issues with the DWR pitcher. It holds a very small amount of water. The charcoal and rocks does make the water taste better (than tap) and different than Brita filtered water but not better.
Bring on the suggestions.
Porcelain and holds 1.5 liters http://aplusrstore.com/product.php?id=267&cid=96
glass at 1 liter http://aplusrstore.com/product.php?id=266&cid=96
just looks neat but you could e-mail the site to ask for fluid amounts if ned be. http://aplusrstore.com/product.php?id=485&cid=96
I own this water/wine jug from the MOMA store and love it. It's used countless of times daily and its handle is very ergonomic.

I love the Vermont Country Store, but I am a dork like that. I just noticed this today, it is new:

I ditto the Slom bottles from Ikea. A friend of mine owns a few of them and keeps them filled with water in her fridge. I just love the retro-mod look of them and they seem affordable.
$7.99 for 64oz with a plastic lid from the Container Store:

I've owned a pair of the 34 oz pitchers for 20 years and used them everyday - Never a problem.
ONA glass pitcher at C&B - http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=180&f=867 I have this thing and it's SO sturdy and extremely beautiful (esp. with some freshly sliced cucumber or mint in the water)
Also, a 36oz Blenko water carafe is a classic from the 50's, comes in multiple colors and they're still made in the USA:
$42

Similar to the Ikea ones, you could repurpose the bottles from sparkling french lemonade.

Both from teavana:
Camellia Cylindre Glass Tea Maker 34oz $40

Well, it's not much bigger than the OP's but I assume it's cheaper, even if it doesn't have the insert for rocks. The picture is a little misleading, but it is basically just a clean look, no texturing on the glass, with a slight increase in diameter towards the bottom.
Amandine Decanter 64oz $50

I have this; I like the curviness. :) It's not too fussy otherwise, so it still has a clean look to me. It's unexpectedly light, so it *could* be fragile; I haven't had mine long or used it very much.
I was at Target yesterday and actually saw some very pretty glass ones. They were similar in style to the picture, tall and slim, but had more of a curve, but not a big one where it looked country, more modern. It looked like it held maybe 1.5 quarts, but that's a guess.
The Houston Chronicle had a feature a few days ago with a bunch of different carafes. I don't know if they have it online too, but you could check.
This isn't the one I saw which was being sold solo, but it's a nice shape (except it comes in a set):

I was watching a korean drama and saw the hario slim water pitcher and fell in love with it :) I tried googling it without knowing the name but wasn't able to, I finally found it at a korean grocery store for $10 ^__^. It holds 1400 ml or around 47oz and doesn't take up much space in my fridge. The glass is pretty thin so I was worried it would be too fragile, but it's been great so far :) I bought another just because I love it so much. If you don't have any korean stores by you, I found it here too http://www.veryasia.com/rpl-14-bw.html
I like this one made by Blomus, about 48 oz:

I like how you don't need to take the lid off to pour (not evident from the design!)
Found some really great glass pitchers a few weeks ago at WalMart (hey - I live in the boonies and don't have a lot of options). They were about $5 each and appearance-wise they look, I don't know, "french". We bought a new fridge recently and I wanted nice pitchers for water and juice. Their website doesn't carry them but they did have these online...

Those Vermont Country Store pitchers are nice.
