Can I Make Unsweetened Dried Cranberries at Home?

Good Questions

Q: My boyfriend LOVES dried cranberries, but is annoyed that any ones we can buy in the store are always sweetened. He wants the sour tang of unsweetened cranberries in dried form.

I tried to make them in my food dehydrator but they stayed round cranberry shaped, and just dried out into hard little hollow balloons. Any tips on how I can make delicious, chewy, dried, unsweetened cranberries at home for my sweetie?

Editor: Rachel, going by this recipe, it looks like you need to cook the cranberries down a bit before drying them:

Sugar-Free Dried Cranberries

Try cooking them in some water as specified there, then dry them.
