Q: I love the thin-crust pizza recipe from The Kitchn. We've been making it every Friday night at our house! But now that the weather is warming up, I'm wondering how to continue our Friday night pizza tradition.
Can I grill this pizza? We love the flavor of this dough and how thin it gets. I'm especially addicted to the rolling-out-on-parchment technique, but I'm worried about how that would work on the grill. Do you have advice?

Editor: Ann, yes, you can definitely grill thin-crust pizza! (You can also do it on the stovetop, but that will still heat up your kitchen quite a bit.) Here's a collection of posts on grilling pizza. We are looking forward to this, too — it's time to get the grill out.

I love grilling pizza! I just made grilled pizza with apples, onions, reduced balsamic and smoked gouda. SO GOOD! http://www.eatniks.com/2010/04/now-thats-a-gouda-pizza/
same! i love grilling pizza and typically just do an olive oil, chilis and arugula with some nice cheese.
too bad we don't have a grill! will have to wait to be invited to someone's house outside of the city.
Thanks for all of those great links! Has anyone tried putting parchment-rolled pizza dough on the grill? I'm thinking I should try grilling it upside down (with the paper on top) to avoid flaming parchment...
Grilled pizza is great. It's a neighborhood tradition--evenings spent in the yard, making and eating the pizza on the grill.
I wouldn't try parchment on the grill--it catches fire at around 450F. Instead, brush a bit of olive oil on the first side down, then a but on the second once you turn it to dress it. We've never had a sticking problem.
I wouldn't put parchment on the grill but we do rolls ours out very thin and grill it, and I think it's my favorite way to eat pizza! It gets super crispy. Man, I think I need to make pizza dough this weekend for sure!
Second what kariwk just said. Use olive oil. The other key is making sure your grill is very very hot and clean. We usually turn it on, let any stuff burn off, brush it, and then oil the grate with an olive oil-soaked paper towel (holding it with tongs).
i've used my pizza stone in the BBQ, works out great!
I just had a friend suggest freezing the thinly rolled-out dough for 20 minutes before grilling. I bet that would at least help me get it off the parchment in one piece before tossing on the grill!
Thanks for everyone's great ideas!
According to the Good Eats fan page, there should be an episode on grilled pizzas coming out sooner or later. The new episode release seems a bit sporadic lately so no one is sure when that will be, though. Don't let that stop you from experimenting, though! As Emeril used to say: It's only food.
I don't have any yet, but, I have been planning on getting pizza pans that are mesh like to do grilling with. They aren't very expensive. We do grill pizza now but it would be so nice to not be trying to get pizza with toppings on it onto the grill! I don't have much more storage room but they are thin so I am in! I can't wait to get them.
