Let's talk lunch again. Here's ours - a modest lunch today: homemade rosemary foccaccia with black currant jam, a couple slices of deli cheese and a handful of unroasted almonds. Some days we prefer snack foods like these to a full hot lunch; we nibble at our lunchbox all through the work day.
What are you having for lunch today? Are you eating in, or eating out?

Simple green salad today -- green leaf lettuce, tomato, green pepper, grated cheddar, carrots. Also a pear. We're low in "interesting" food right now -- but the CSA basket is due tomorrow!
Lentils with dal fry (garlic, onions, tomato) and leftover curry chicken.
Normally, I have a salad for lunch. Today I will have an early evening conference call, so I decided to move dinner up to lunchtime: salmon fillet and steamed snow peas.
vegetable-walnut pate sandwich on rye with onions. it's a veggie version of chopped liver- it tastes just like it; plus cantalope and cherry tomatoes.
Vegetarian-deli-slice and pepperjack cheese with mustard sandwich, a bag of veggies - peppers, cukes, cherry tomatoes, and a Milky Way Midnight bar. All organic but the latter and the cheese.
I grabbed a big bag of mixed salad greens as I rushed out the door. I've got some dressing in the work fridge, and may walk down to Whole Foods for a protein addition.
A couple of slices of that tube polenta (until recently, it's been too hot to stir a pot of the real stuff) with leftover sauteed broccoli, shallots, and cannellini beans. With parmesan. Pretty basic, pretty good.
Sweet corn and cheddar chowder left over from last night. I've got a sourdough roll to go with it, and blackberries I've nibbled on all day.
homemade red lentil soup with garam masala. mmm.
I am so jealous of your lunch! (Heck, everyone's sounds lovely so far.)
I'm actually heading out to snag a salad right now - greens, tons of carrots, turkey, cheese, sunflower seeds and some caesar dressing. I lie to myself and say it's healthy cause it's a "salad". :)
Often lunch is the previous night's leftovers, but I've been lacking motivation and just eating a LOT of salads of late - I think the summer heat has gotten to me.
boy, do i feel unhealthy! here i was looking forward to today's hot dog bar at the eatery next door...
Made a huge pot of Rancho Gordo Goat's Eye beans last night, so it will be beans and rice for a few days, which is a favorite of mine. Finished off with a couple Dove dark chocolate squares.
My office has a subsidized cafeteria with a greenmarket salad bar, so today was tomato basil soup and a salad of mixed greens and frisee, fresh white corn, cucumbers, red bell peppers and chick peas.
today was a turkey sandwich and (eek) an edy's sugar-free vanilla almond crunch ice cream bar.
but i figure it's okay since i have a big pot of pisto (spanish ratatouille) that i have to finish off, so i'll get my veggies later. :)
PB&J!
Today it was a big serving of homemade gazpacho (local Summer tomatoes & roasted red peppers go in) and leftover grilled pork chops(2). I figured the veggies were all in the soup! Hmm, a banana chocolate muffin, and a glass of unsweetened soy milk. A local peach & small banana complete the picture.
I brought a lovely veggie slice/tomato/lettuce/havarti cheese/onion sandwich for lunch. But ended up going to the local diner with coworkers for lunch instead. Had yummy lentil/tomato soup and baked mac & cheese. The sandwich will be dinner now...
Today I have toasted pita stuffed with hummus, chopped celery and shredded carrots, honey sesame almonds, raspberry white iced tea and a piece of white chocolate.
Leftover singapore noodles. I just got back from vacation and still haven't hit the grocery store yet.
Homemade foccacia is modest?
I'm boring--leftover jambalaya.
Also a chocolate bar and a piece of watermelon Laffy Taffy. I'm in craving mode. Oh, and a glass of chocolate milk.
But I HAVE had 3 Liters of water already today, so that's something, right :-)
Leftovers from last night's dinner: greek orzo salad, grilled pita (nuked for 10 seconds), hummus and cantaloupe. I lurves leftovers.
cold leftover meatloaf and street vendor pretzel (philly pretzel)
I ate at McD's for a treat. Where I was charged 11 cents for a packet of bbq sauce. The cashier mis-applied the new policy of 11 cents for an EXTRA packet. I'm going by to complain after work. Then I'm writing corporate to tell them a corporation as rich as McD's should be ashamed to charge for condiments.
i feel guilty for the crap i eat at lunch now! i need to start cooking more. i ate out with coworkers today and had a buffalo chicken sandwich and fries.
Grilled eggplant (done in advance) with garden fresh tomatos on toasted peasant bread and a nice schmear of goat cheese. Delish sandwich.
It's so hard to get the bring-lunch-to-work momentum going. I really ought to plan/pkg my lunches on Sunday nights...but it never seems to happen.
Today's lunch was leftover quinoa with artichoke hearts, asparagus, peppers, basil and mint... with a couple of sections of sangak that I picked up from the bakery.
Lemon juice/maple syrup/cayenne pepper. I'm on the Master Cleanse. Pity me.
take out tuna/vegetable salad from the italian restaurant next door and an asian pear that I got at the farmer's market yesterday
I ate leftover peas/egg noodles/parmesan (my 6 year old daughter calls it easy cheesy peasy from the book Ivy & Bean)
Eating at Mc Donald's is a treat?!
The thing people forget about McDonald's is it's popular for a reason and it's not just the low prices. McD's tastes good in a really horrible way, like indulging yourself on something you know you'll regret five minutes after you finish eating but eat anyway. I go there whenever I'm drunk or desperate enough, and love every minute of it--until I finish eating, of course.
My daily lunch is boring as all hell. Honey turkey and Swiss on toasted whole wheat with low-fat mayo, organic red grapes, Diet Dr. Pepper, and some strawberry-banana yogurt. I really need to liven things up.
Yes, McD's is a treat. I don't go there often. Usually buy a salad at a cafe. They have my mix down cold. But once in a while, I'm allowed some of those wonderful fries from McD's.
will you post that rosemary foccaica recipe? it looks delicsh!
