Ale-lover and brewery owner Peter Fowler of Oxfordshire took up a friend's challenge and produced what is certifiably the bitterest brew on tap today: The Hop. It registers 323 International Bittering Units (IBUs), which beats the nearest record-holder (an American IPA) by nearly 50%.

theoretically speaking that is.
alpha acids are only soluble in a solution up to a certain point, somewhere around 100. everything beyond that is a theoretical count.
the issue is that, as with all solutions, the solvent can only hold a certain amount of the solute before it becomes saturation.
i mean, yes, though. you can input higher and higher numbers into the same equation, but you're going to actually physically achieve it.
I must be the only craft beer drinker on the planet who's not a hop-head.
