Whether you’re standing in line at a street vendor in Paris or in front of your stove on a Saturday morning, crêpes feel like an extra-special treat. Of course, it’s often not so much about the delicate, tender wrapping as it is about what decadent filling you choose to put inside. Do you have a favorite?
Sweet or savory, vegetarian or not, light or filling - crêpes are truly the perfect vehicle for just about any sort of filling you desire.
Sweet Fillings - We like these by themselves or in combination with each other
• Nutella - Either straight or paired with chunks of banana
• Peanut Butter - Again either straight or paired with bananas...or chocolate sauce!
• Fruit Preserves or Jam
• Fresh Cut Fruit - Ripe bananas, fresh peaches, raspberries, and sliced cherries are favorites
• Ricotta - Especially with a little powder sugar mixed in
• Dulce de Leche
• Nuts - Roasted almonds, walnuts, and pecans
Savory Fillings - These certainly can be meals by themselves
• Sautéed Vegetables - Like mushrooms, caramelized onions, spinach, and roasted red peppers
• Pull Pork or Chicken - With or without some barbecue sauce!
• Fresh Eggs - Fried, poached, or scrambled
• Cheese - Goat cheese, bleu cheese, shredded gouda, cheddar, feta
• Beans - Navy, pinto, garbanzo, or black beans
• Picked Vegetables
• Sour Cream or Ricotta
What are your favorite kinds of crêpes?

Elizabeth Apron fro...

I love lightly sweetened neufchatel with a cherry compote.
There's an amazing crepe stand in the West Side Market here in Cleveland... and the "lemon curd and honey" crepe is both ridiculously messy and to die for. Yum.
We used to have a little Indonesian place in town my friends and I went to all of the time for bubble tea and crepes. We tried them all, but to this day my favorite is chocolate/cheese. There was just something about that combo that created a flavor explosion.
I've never been able to recreate that, so instead I settle for Nutella and either bananas or strawberries.
When I was there a few years back I always got nutella and bananas but always regretted it as my mom got one filled with simply chopped chicken, salt and pepper cooked in a pan there. So simple but holy smokes did it taste good!
Nutella and banana. Always.
I am a simple person.
In Paris I had nutella and bananas. Amazing! I also love spinach and gouda
Another vote for nutella and bananas. So good!
Just a little squeeze of lemon juice and a sprinkle of sugar- yum!
NUTELLA!!
ham and mozzarella!
In Paris i had the nutella and bannana but it was far to sweet for me, i kept going for bites of my husbands simple ham and cheese with pepper, soooo good! I had no idea till then a savory crepe is amazing!
At home we eat them simply with sugar and a squeeze of orange or lemon!
Chocolat-banane, s'il vous plaît! Apres-ski standard. Ou emmenthal jambon. If you really want to push the boat out, egg, spinach, mushroom and chicken :)
My boyfriend likes eggs with salsa and cheese, but I prefer pureed strawberries with Nutella. Somehow syrupy strawberries (without added sugar) taste better than just sliced ones. But there's also the simple pleasure of butter with a sprinkle of brown sugar.
I made rhubarb curd a month or so ago and used it in crepes...it's was heavenly.

I love macerated strawberries w/ nutella & (real) whip cream on top or cajeta & macerated strawberries w/ whip cream on top!!! I never seem to make it past those two.
I like mine fresh with salted butter and honey. If going the savory route I love goat cheese with grilled mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and truffle oil....yum.
I love with egg and emmenthal (sp?) cheese. Or with powdered sugar and fresh squeezed lime juice.
For savory I don't think you can beat ham and cheese- I like gruyere.
For sweet I like cinnamon and sugar or lemon and sugar.
Ditto what the other folks here said. Last crepe I had in Paris (and by far the best) was the crepe citron sucre - just sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice. Simple and fantastic.
I am another fan of sugar and lemon juice or sugar and butter. simple and not too sweet.
hear hear for lemon juice and sugar!
Nutella and banana is the best. I cannot emphasize how badly, after eating this thing, that I wanted to drag that huge jar of Nutella home with me on the plane.
There's a local restaurant here that makes both sweet and savory crepes, though they are rolled rather than folded. Crepes cannelloni, Mexican burrito crepes, broccoli and cheddar, spinach and gruyere, and mushroom with white wine and sour cream for the savory. For sweet, there are strawberry, hot peach and amaretto, or my favorite--the Grasshopper crepes, filled with mint chocolate ice cream.
Lemon and sugar, defintely. Simple!
Nothing beats the crepe shops in Japan...green tea cheesecake crepes, tiramisu crepes, brownie strawberry...mmmmm....
