Drumroll please... The first runner up in our Bittersweet Baking contest
is Shelly and her Brownie Cookies
. Congratulations Shelly!
Our panel of judges was impressed with Shelly's hard work in developing this recipe and going through so many iterations to find exactly what she was looking for. To read some of the judges' comments and to see the prize, click through. Here are a few of our judges' comments on Shelly's recipe:
Ivonne of the Daring Bakers: I would give this recipe a prize simply for originality!
Sarah Phillips of Baking 911: I am amazed at how Shelly can create her own recipe and get the results that she has. It is very difficult to create one’s own recipe, especially with the attributes she obtained: a cookie that was thick and chewy, yet crispy on the outside, yet moist and fudgy. I love the versatility of Shelly’s recipe, too, helping bring out the creative urges in home cook. You can’t beat a great cookie recipe perfect for all sorts of holiday or special events or just something wonderful to fill the everyday cookie jar.
Runner Up Prize
• Cuisinart Cup-O-Matic Coffeemaker, a single-serve coffeemaker that has a huge advantage over the pod coffeemakers that have become so popular. With this one you can use coffee pods AND/OR your own fresh ground coffee (much superior in our opinion).
• A copy of Chocolate by Paule Cuvelier - A stunning double book set on cacao cultivation and chocolate crafting, from Rizzoli. Look for a review tomorrow!
• A pound of coffee from the organic and Fair Trade Allegro coffee company, whom you probably know as Whole Foods' in house coffee brand.
Another runner up will be announced tomorrow, and look for the grand prize winner on Friday!
