Nothing about Thanksgiving is traditionally small. There is the turkey, of course. Not small. Lots of side dishes. Also not small. And by the end of the meal, the pies can sometimes seem like a pretty bit commitment. That's why we think mini desserts are a great alternative.
Bite-sized desserts are good for a few reasons: not many people want three full-size slices of pie at the end of Thanksgiving dinner. But don't we all want to try a little of each? Mini sweets not only look charming at the end of the table, but they allow your guests to try a bit of everything without wasting or overindulging. Here are a few of our favorites:
• Pecan Tassies - Joy of Baking
• Roasted Pumpkin Pot de Creme - Chez Us
• Mini Pumpkin Cheesecakes - Pinch my Salt
• Mini Caramel Apple Cheesecakes - Rachael Ray
• Mini Cranberry Phyllo Tarts - Better Homes and Gardens
• Mini Chocolate Hazelnut Tart - La Mia Vita Dolce
• Pumpkin Pie Truffles - Food 52
• Pumpkin Whoopie Pies with Maple Cream Cheese Filling - Brown Eyed Baker
• Fall Vanilla Bean Mini Cupcakes - The Naptime Chef
• Mini Pumpkin Gingerbread Cupcakes - Whole Foods

YES. I'm the person who always does a sliver of pecan pie, a sliver of apple, and a sliver of pumpkin, because I love all three, but don't want full slices of each.
I do also like crustless "pies" like baked pumpkin custard or sweet potato pudding. When there's no crust, you can just scoop out however much you want and not have to worry about whole slices.
Those Brown Eyed Baker pumpkin whoopie pies are amazing. We've made them the past two years and loved the results. If you haven't tried that recipe, and like a pumpkin/cream cheese combo, it's a must-bake!
I just made the Brown Eyed Baker Pumpkin Whoopie Pies for our Halloween party and they were great. I'm not a fan of cream cheese though so we substituted this marshmallow maple filling and it was fantastic.

Mini Thanksgiving desserts are such a good idea! Everyone gets their own personal dessert and they are so cute.
These desserts looks really good. I however don't have the time with my busy schedule to bake all these items. I might just have to cheat this year and stop at Trader Joe's. They never fail in providing some delicious desserts.
Feel free to add more suggestions to this Trader Joe's list that I created. http://www.skinnyscoop.com/list/claudia/thanksgiving-sides-your-trader-joes-cheat-sheet
