Better than pumpkin pie is a bold statement, but that's what Gabriela of Gabriela's Kitchen says about this flan de calabaza, or pumpkin. She even promises that those who dislike flan will be converted. Based on a creamy Flan Napolitano recipe, this autumnal version includes pumpkin puree, allspice, and cinnamon. It tastes like "the offspring of pumpkin pie and custard" and Gabriela says to "those of you who gag at the idea of sticky-sweet caramelized sugar atop a rich eggy custard, I swear that your distaste for flan will vanish with one bite of this recipe."
I must admit I'm not a flan lover myself, but I'm definitely going to give this a try. How about you?
