When we came across Tasha's kitchen remodel on her blog, Designer Trapped in a Lawyer's Body, we just couldn't believe the price tag. How could such a transformation only cost $700?
Here's Tasha's "before" kitchen. Now take a look at how the remodel turned out!
Doesn't the space feel completely different now? Without close inspection of the cabinets and layout, we never would have guessed it was the same kitchen.
The biggest change is definitely the floor, which we'll get to in a minute. But first, Tasha writes:
"Ninety percent of our budget kitchen remodel was accomplished by simply PAINTING nearly every surface! We painted the tile backsplash, the walls, the trim and doors, and of course, the cabinets."
The dark paint on the tile backsplash is genius because it camouflages, but doesn't eradicate, the decorative fleur-de-lys and lion tiles. It basically just makes them a bit more subtle. We hope Tasha has some good under-cabinet lighting with the dark backsplash and dark counters.

Definitely in need of some TLC. And here's what it looks like now:
Surprise! The floor is painted, too. Tasha used a large stencil and gray and white paint to create a beautiful tile-inspired pattern that makes the kitchen feel completely brand new.
