This kitchen was a little too honey colored for the homeowners, but working within a small budget, something had to change without too much expense. A little creativity, gold paint and some fabric later and the results are fabulous — all for $300!
The fine folks over at One Project Closer have been busy renovating their kitchen. Their cabinet color was the easiest thing to change without having a high overhead. They set to work painting the edges which were then covered with white paint. Things were distressed to let just a little gold show through and the end result is quite beautiful.
The fabric compliments the space and helps update it without being overbearing or feeling heavy. This small budget makeover is a great reminder that you don't have to gut your space to get a big impact and can be a great way to add value to a space that might be lacking. Make sure to check out all the details if you're considering something similar.

The mention of gold paint was confusing me. I've looked at the blog post a few times now, and I think she just painted the cabinets white, and then applied distressing oil (which does look like gold paint) to the edges, and then wiped it off.
It is amazing what paint can do and how it can elevate a room.
Is the list in the eating area the streets they have lived on? If so, I think it's lovely bit of family history creatively repurposed.
Nice catch smirkhouse! I love that idea. (BTW my mom was a Smirk, maybe we are cousins? :)
Looks great!
My sister and her husband just re-did their kitchen on a major budget. They pulled up linoleum floors and buffed and coated the cement floor underneath and it looks amazing!! It was a great less expensive alternative to tile or wood.
Wow, beautiful transformation!
