Even though we try our best to only keep the bare essentials on hand as far as kitchen tools and utensils go, that doesn't mean that what remains, even if organized should be shown off to company. Our IKEA island has clear front drawers that face our living room and we were tired of showing off our pastry tips, spices and even DVD collection to company!
We spent right around $5 on this project and purchased paper from our local Paper Source. Any paper would do, even left over wrapping paper. The green matches throw pillows on our sofa and even our dog bed, all the while still making the kitchen feel fresh and delightful.
We really don't know what's taken us so long to make the change, it's far more refreshing to sit on the couch and enjoy a night of TV watching or fellowship with friends and not notice that your dried chopped onions or bag of potato starch is staring at you!

I'm glad I read that the green matches items in your living room, because I had been thinking that I didn't like the final look because the green was to bright and attention commanding and didn't seem to fit in with anything in the shot where the colours are all so much darker and richer (which could partly be the phoro.) I love all the starge in that island though.
Our kitchen is brown and orange, so the green looks great in combination -- my livingroom just wasn't photo ready :) It's yet to be Cured!
Nice fix. Sometimes the easiest solutions are the ones staring you right in the face.
You learned a good lesson: Acquire storage with see-through doors and drawers only with great care. Ordinarily we put stuff away to "hide" it -- so glass doors and drawers are counter-productive.
I love the chandelier! Source?
That is probably my all time favorite IKEA piece.
The after does look quite a bit more livingroom-y, but I liked the before, too.
Your kitchen looks lovely!

splatgirl - Thanks, I'd be happier with yours :)
Katie - Cassielynn is correct, it is an UO purchase, if you can't find them in store, they're usually on eBay.
