Take a look at this amazing kitchen renovation from Francesca, an interior designer who also sent us this glamorous kitchen remodel. This time she tackled a tiny kitchen in a 400-square-foot studio, and the results are stunning!
This kitchen belongs to a 400 sq. foot studio apartment in the Upper East Side. Francesca's client was a young, single, working professional. This kitchen is now her favorite room in the apartment! Francesca says that the goal was to expand the kitchen and introduce modern functionality, like the dishwasher — which was on the top of the client's wish list.
By using stainless steel appliances and an industrial style light fixture the kitchen was designed to feel like it belongs in a loft rather than a 400 sq. foot studio. The kitchen has no natural light, so Francesca chose white cabinets to make it bright, and a glass backsplash to reflect light and give the illusion that the kitchen is deeper than it actually is. Porcelain tiles on the floor and the Corian countertop make the kitchen low maintenance and practical for a fast paced lifestyle. The end result is a small kitchen with high style and functionality!
Francesca completely gutted the entire apartment, so she was able to open up a wall to slightly expand the kitchen and rearrange the appliances. The appliances are all General Electric. The range and bottom freezer refrigerator are 24" and dishwasher is 18".
It's a lovely renovation, and it looks like a great place to cook — congratulations to the client, and to Francesca too.

TW Salt Mill by Wil...

I love this. Although the cabinets are described as white, they read grey to me; this just makes me love the transformation even more.
I love it! Wish we could see more details.
That's an amazing transformation. Despite having more components, it actually looks like a larger space.
From the one "after" shot, it looks like a very efficient use of space. Great job!
Tremendous improvement; it would be my favorite room of the home as well. Great job!
And the budget was...???
I'm guessing here, but I'll bet the budget on this wasn't too bad. Corian countertops aren't expensive, neither are porcelain tiles. GE appliances aren't that pricey. Even if the cabinetry is semi-custom or custom (though it could easily be well-designed stock cabinetry), the footprint is so small that I'll bet the cost was pretty reasonable.
How much money was spend on the renovation? It looks great
Gorgeous. I love how the floor tiles and stainless steel echo one another for a very cohesive look. The backsplash is lovely, too.
wow, what an amazing kitchen in such a small space! would love to see more angles!
I love how they went with a white microwave that blends in with the white cabinets, instead of a stainless microwave.
1 after photo and 3 before shots? what?
@creativeintheory, well, she moved a wall, so it is actually a bigger space. Wish they gave the before and after footage for just the kitchen, as well....
For everyone who has faith that this remodel didn't cost that much, did you calculate gutting the rest of the apartment to move walls around into your approximations? Seriously, I have no idea. Also, ppl's ideas of what is reasonable varies too much for me to take it on faith that it's something I'd actually bother with....
I love it, it's beautiful. It would be wonderful to wake up to that kitchen! Also, I totally understand putting a dishwasher at the top of the list; I'll be so happy to have one when the day finally comes. Hand-washing is fine, but a dishwasher would be a welcome time saver.
Very sneaky, jeff888 (aka spam robot), copying another commenter's line and tacking on your spam links.
Sneaky, but not impressive. You're still rude and completely obnoxious.
Does anyone know what tiles those are?
I'd like to know costs not to slam the renovator but to decide which of the changes are within my budget. Materials lists would be great as well, so we know what to shop for.
