Before & After: An $800 Complete Kitchen Makeover

When we found this kitchen makeover on Hometalk, we recognized elements of it from many of our kitchen makeovers in the past. The honey-colored cabinets, the dark wall paint, and the laminate countertops. All of those attributes fall into the most commonly upgraded list in the majority of our kitchen makeovers.

So how did Erica, the homeowner, tackle this kitchen? Take a look!

What a difference! It’s amazing what a little paint can do. That’s the key to keeping this remodel on budget. Two of the biggest changes were painting the cabinets and the walls to something lighter to make better use of the space. When there’s only one window over the sink, you have to make sure the light is bouncing around as much as possible.

One of our favorite parts of the remodel is the open shelving that Erica installed in place of some of her cabinets. Not only does it make the kitchen feel more open, but it also gives her a chance to display some of her beautiful glassware and serving bowls.

Countertops can dramatically change a space, and this makeover from white laminate counters to stunning stained wood counters gives a whole new look to the kitchen. The best part?
