At the top of our wish list right now are these Iceberg glasses by Reiko Kaneko. Handmade in Stoke-on-Trent, the "English bone china with a Japanese twist" is an elegant and inventive way to serve cocktails, ice cream, chilled soups, and more.

The concept is simple and clever: fill the base with ice to keep the contents of the porcelain cup chilled without dilution. And how exquisite it looks! A flower, berry, or herb could also be placed in the bottom glass for a beautiful presentation. We are enchanted by the cape gooseberry dessert example.

One could try to recreate the effect with other drinking glasses and small bowls but, ultimately, we think Reiko Kaneko's original designs would be worth the splurge (approximately £25 or $38 each).
