Readers, your voices have been heard! Today we implemented a much better way to print pages and recipes from The Kitchn. It's not perfect (we have a lot of technical upgrades planned for the site over the next few months!) but it's one initial improvement.
To print a recipe from The Kitchn, go to the post with the recipe, and hit Print in your browser menu.
The improved part? You'll see a simple page — just the post, photos, and recipe — no ads or sidebars or anything else. The resulting page is much cleaner and better for printing.
We chose to leave the photos on the page, since they are useful for some recipes and how-tos. If you don't want to print the photo, we suggest telling your browser to print just the page of the post with the recipe, which will not usually have a photo on it.
Yes, eventually we will isolate just the recipes on a printable page, but this is trickier than it sounds (think about it: how do you tell a page what's a recipe and what isn't?) and it will involve quite a bit of editing on our end.
No fear, though, we're working on it, and we are so glad that so many of you have requested this feature — it means you're cooking and using these recipes, and that's a great honor! We'd like to make it as easy as possible.
So keep cooking, and we'll see what else we can do here at The Kitchn to make your job a little easier.
PS - Also note the new Tweet buttons — another much-requested feature from our readers.

Finally, finally, FINALLY. Yay!
I second that yay!! :)
...do that many people print? seems so old-fashioned!
Yea!
Yes, I don't have a computer in my kitchen, so I print out the recipes.
How nice! Thank you! :)
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!
Thank you!
Finally! Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you sooo much! :)
Konar, yes, some of us still print recipes. Personally, I try to avoid printing but at the same time, I don't want to subject my laptop to spills, greasy fingers and such... Plus I don't have a lot of counter space. This way, I can stick the recipe to the fridge with a magnet.
Thank you thank you thank you. That's a bit less time spent on reformatting, and more time downloading!
Did I remember to thank you?!?
YAY!!!
And for those of us who are *extremely* anal retentive... we can print out a hard copy for our cook book binders (you all have one, right?) and a PDF so we can keyword search on our computers (you all do this too, right?).
:)
What a nice surprise! Thank you so very much!
Awesome!!! Can't thank you enough!
Like.
Excellent!!! Thanks for thinking of us!
This is fantastic... I love 'print' to pdf, but the sidebars drive me crazy!
