We like the casual look of mismatched dining room chairs, but if the mismatching gets carried away things can look a bit haphazard. Here's a great way to rein in the havoc while keeping a fun, loose vibe: Use the same chair in different colors. And make it even better by using Eames shell chairs!

Swwooooonnnn! However, i'm on a budget. Does anyone have a good resource for colored knock-offs? Overstock and Amazon only have white .... or could I paint them? Any ideas?
Kariface - they're plastic and will get lots of wear - I don't think you'd be happy with the results if you painted them. I've seen colored knockoffs in retail stores, so they do exist. Keep looking...
This idea is only as old as the chair design itself. These were meant to be mixed and matched. Try mixing them with OTHER designs, like a Goodform chair, or a DCM or a Panton.....that would be novel.
I'm having trouble finding eames chairs in the neutral colors you show above, any idea where i can get them from? all i have come across are white, black & super bright alternatives which really don't suit the industrial feel of my home.
any help would be amazing....
