This Georgetown kitchen has so much to love in it, starting with the fact that it extends through the dining room and straight out into the lush green garden in back. Anna and Joe say it's "heaven" to entertain in their "kitchen/dining room/garden," especially with the extra long table extension Joe built from wood and steel pipes, which goes from the inside all the way out into the garden.
The beauty is in the finer, unique details: the kitchen island, built by Joe, was constructed using an old slate-and-pressed-tin counter with a walnut cutting board surface inserted between the slate pieces. The concrete countertop was also poured by Joe, and if you look closely you'll see the handprint of their daughter Lucy, when she was 5 years old. The couple says the space is "sunny and cheerful and relaxing," and it's their favorite room in the house.
