Oh, how I'm a sucker for a pretty cake stand. But gather too many in your kitchen and you find you're rarely using many of them. Here are a few ideas for using those that aren't on dessert duty:

  • On the countertop. Use a cake stand out on the counter to store those oft-used staples for quick and easy use.
  • In the bathroom. Use a cake stand in the bathroom to store and display your nice-to-look-at toiletries.
  • On the vanity. By placing a cake stand on a dresser or vanity and filling it with jewelry, makeup, and perfumes, you create an instant station for getting ready in the mornings.
  • Candle holder. Arrange candles on a cake stand for an elevated, romantic centerpiece on the table.
