Albertsons and Safeway, two of the country's biggest grocery store chains, are merging. This has been in process for some time, but the deal was announced complete last week.

So which stores does this affect?

These two big chains actually have quite a lot of banners under their corporate management. They include:

Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Carrs, Albertsons, ACME, Jewel-Osco, Lucky, Shaw's, Star Market, Super Saver, United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos

No word on whether the merger will actually affect day-to-day shopping in the newly merged company's stores, but we'll be on the lookout for changes.
