You may have noticed we were a little excited about the American Cheese Society's cheese sale last weekend. Luckily, we weren't disappointed. We and other happy cheese lovers wandered around the dining room at Kendall College in Chicago, a little overwhelmed by the selection.
We finally made our choices, and took home more cheese than we were expecting. See how much cheese we walked away with for $20 ...
OK, so we may have gone a little overboard. Thankfully, we had friends coming by that evening, and there was plenty of cheese to eat, and they were each sent home with individual cheese plates to snack on later. Still, a lot of cheese remains.
Here's what we got:
- Pasture Pride Goat Muenster
- Pasture Pride Goat Smoked Alpine
- Hopscotch Scotch Ale Cheddar
- Gouda with Chipotle (brand unknown)
- Organic Green Onion, possibly cheddar (brand unknown)
They're all wonderful. Each time we think we've picked a favorite, we change our mind again. The goat cheeses are slightly tangier versions of classic cheeses, which we love. The Gouda with Chipotle is wonderfully smoky and spicy, but not too spicy. The Organic Green Onion mystery cheese has lots of bite, and wonderful onion flavor. And Scotch Ale Cheddar, need we say more?

And if the ACS conference and cheese sale comes to your city next year, don't think twice, just go!

Good grief! That's quite a bounty of cheese!
I love cheese
I got there at 11:00 and immediately wished I had gotten there when they opened their doors. I have feeling there were some real gems that were snatched up. Nonetheless, we too ended up with a fridge like yours! There were lots of delicious cheddars. It's no wonder Carr Valley captured the grand prize--anything by them is so good.
Thanks for linking to those pictures! My husband and our two friends we went to the cheese sale with were prominently featured. I can't stop laughing, though my husband demands to know why he is "Hipster Cheese"!
