Brazil is definitely at the top of the list of places we’d like to visit - preferably sooner rather than later. Until that happens, we’ll put on some samba music, invite some friends over for caipirinhas, and serve up some excellent Brazilian fare.
1. Moqueca from Leite’s Culinaria - Coconut milk makes this thick fish soup a meal unto itself.
2. Bolinhos de Bacalhau from The World Wide Gourmet - If you haven’t tried salt cod fritters before, you definitely need to soon.
3. Feijoada from Saveur - This black bean and meat dish is to Brazil like paella is to Spain or cassoulet to France. Every region has a slightly different variation and they’re all good.
4. Shrimp Bobo from Gourmet - Serve this rich and creamy dish over acaça rice flour pudding.
5. Pao de Queijo from the Kitchn - These cheesy puffs are a cross between a dinner roll and gougeres. Insanely good.
6. Brigadeiros from Leite’s Culinaria - Similar to truffles, these fudgy balls of chocolate are made even more addictive with sweetened condensed milk.
7. Pudim De Laranja from the Food Network - A Brazilian version of flan, flavored with orange juice
8. Classic Caipirinha from the Kitchn - This mojito-esque cocktail is made with cachaha, a Brazilian liquor made from cane sugar.

I love Caldo Verde, a classic Brazilian and Portugese soup that features kale and potatoes. My version is made vegan with the addition of homemade veggie linguica sausages. It's hearty and flavorful with smoked paprika, tangy red wine vinegar, and a good pinch of red pepper flakes.

Thanks for this post! I love Brazilian food.
Feijoada-heard a piece about it on 'The Splendid Table' podcast and am plannin to prepare it for a party when it cools off a bit. BTW Feijoada, as I wunerstand it is pronounced 'feg wa d a' someone please correct me if this isn't close.
How bizarre. I just made pao de queijo today, then I come here to see them featured!
@phoxx: My boyfriend is from Brazil, and as he pronounces it as "fay-zhoo-AH-da" with the "zhoo" sounding like "jew" but with a softer J. But it may vary by region.
As a good brazilian, I love all these dishes! The best moquecas and shrimp bobós are in northeast brazil, they are divine. Pão de queijo is always good anytime, specially if they are together with a nice cup of coffee. And brigadeiro is a candy which always have to make presence at any kind of birthday party. It´s tradition :)
(sorry for my english).
i'm ashamed to say the only Brazilian 'food' i know of is the caipirinha. i'm gonna have to try one of these recipes this weekend!
Churrasco is great delicious fun for carnivores.
Oh this post is making me homesick!
ChristinaG , thats how its pronounced.
I think I will have to make one of these recipes today...
I just got back from Brazil today, and that moqueca looks perfect! I miss it already. Does anyone have a reliable source for dende oil?
littleshirleybeans you can use olive oil instead of dende oil.
I love bolinhos de bacalhau and shrimp bobo.
I definetly don't like pão de queijo.
Brigadeiros are prefered by the kids in any birthday party here in Brazil.
By the way, I never saw an orange pudim.
