William Werner, the pastry chef behind the Tell Tale Society's monthly dessert subscription service is one smart guy. He's opening a patisserie and delicatessen on San Francisco's high-end Maiden Lane and found himself in an odd position a few months ago. The beautiful off-site kitchen was ready to roll, but the storefront was not: what is one to do? Craft beautifully designed burlap bags of seasonal desserts, of course!
And we're not talking your average chocolate chip cookies or brownies here. November's bag contained sierra beauty apple - praline butter, warren pear pate de fruit, carrot cake with cocoa and ginger, smoked almond brittle, oak bourbon caramels, and 85% valrhona chocolate marshmallows. William's sweets are inspired and demonstrate a true artist's dedication to his craft. They make us want to get into the kitchen and experiment with new flavors and ingredient combinations.
