January is traditionally the month when food media focuses on healthy food and (four-letter word alert!) diet. It's a predictable rut, but the reality is that a lot of people do indeed try to lighten up this month. But not all that lightening up has to be rice cakes and boiled cabbage — check out these appealing 100-calorie snacks from MyRecipes. They're doing a whole month of them!
MyRecipes' month-long feature is focusing on 100-calorie snacks, revealing a new one each day. So far these little snacks and appetizers are pretty and filling, not to mention interesting. I especially like the two pictured above: Caramelized Onion-Cranberry-Cream Cheese Bites and Chevre and Mango Steak Bites.
Most of the snacks featured so far have been like these — rather sophisticated little bites that would also work, en masse, as a light lunch, or served at a cocktail party.

ok, so I love the idea of having snacks that are 100 calories so I clicked over to the website and there are some great recipes there, but beware the serving sizes are SMALL. Example, the tex-mex pinto bean spread you only get to enjoy a tablespoon of dip. No thanks, I'll spend my 100 calories elsewhere!
For the two that you picked as your favourite - each recipe only allows you to have 2 pieces (two steak bites or two crackers) to get to 100 calories. In fact you would be over the 100 calories by a bit if you ate two of the crackers (56 cal each) I don't know about you, but when there are little bites like these around I can never stop at just two!
^ If that's the case I can almost eat 2 itty bitty portions of anything & it be 100 calories! :/
