Not that we have anything against potato salad. We love potato salad. But a change from the traditional is good, and this upscale picnic fare from Fine Cooking looks delightful...

The dishes are all things that can be made ahead and taste good at room temperature. There's a bulgar salad with wilted chard and green olives, a grilled chicken that's served with a chili oil for dipping, and ginger sandwich cookies with lemon cream- oh my.
Is it warm where you live? Are you planning a picnic soon, maybe even as an unconventional end of the Cure graduation?
This menu looks like it would surprise guests who are expecting sandwiches or coleslaw, and yet it's (almost) just as easy to pull together.

I bookmarked these recipes as soon as I saw them! Fine Cooking is my favorite food magazine; I'm glad you featured them here.
wow looks delicious, although reading the recipes sounds like more trouble than I would usually go through for a picnic. If someone else wanted to invite me a long to theirs would be happy to...
The recipes look wonderful - but the amount of packaging they recommend is atrocious!
I plan on making this however, it looks delicious.
Thanks for the tip. I'm a picnic fiend and always collecting new ideas. Here are a couple of my other all-time favorites:

I'm glad you put the disclaimer about not being against potato salad!
