We've all thought about pairing wine with various cheeses or small bites, and maybe you've even thought of doing the same with craft beers. Rye pretzels, good cheese, and salty nuts are wonderful with beer. But when it comes to pairings, how about music?
NPR recently ran a little piece that discussed pairing beer with music. After taking part in a tasting program with wine and music a while back, writer Aaron Sherman decided it was time to do the same with beer: "Pick a program of fabulous music and find the perfect accompanying brew. With bottles in hand and iPod on full blast, I set out to find suitable matches."
His findings? Boddingtons Pub Ale is apparently great with George Solti while Pabst Blue Ribbon is fantastic with a little Bessie Smith on the side.
What do you think? Do you have particular music you like to listen to while enjoying an end-of-the-day ale?

I like single malt music: a piano trio (piano, bass, drums) playing low, slow jazz (like John Lewis). But you asked about beer, so make mine a Dos Equis and some Raul Malo and the Mavericks.
As someone who's email address is "musicfoodbeerbikes" I heartily approve of this post.
With almost 9K songs in my iTunes library spanning from the mid Sixties to....last week, I just hit "shuffle" and let the good times roll. (There's always the "next" button....)
If you remove the hipster connotations, I'd say Lone Star goes great with honky-tonk country.
I like beer...thx for sharing
Not to be a toolio, but the method of the music is important. One beer (or other beverage) might taste fine with music replicated on an iPod or other MP3 device, but could taste infinitely better when done with vinyl...
I have a whole blog of songs to listen to while you cook/drink! I have a song for every recipe - sometimes a playlist! Sometimes the songs inspire the recipes, sometimes the recipes inspire the songs.
Right now, Ommegang's "Art of Darkness" seems to be lending itself to Rise Against's "Endgame"....
Pabst Blue Ribbon seems more Hank Williams lll. Bessie makes me think of the twenties/thirties, I'd sip something with gin or some Tennessee whiskey. We had a dinner party with local IPA and porter and the guest brought us The Skiffle Sessions, Live in Belfast. Very nice.
Come on, kids:
