This week my CSA share provided me with two pounds of delicious pears. They are currently ripening on my counter, and in a few days I'll have to decide what to do with them. Poach them with some honey? Mix them into pancakes? Bake them into a skillet cake? I'll likely turn to one or more of these recipes for inspiration when that time comes:
TOP ROW
• 1 Spiced Pear Muffins
• 2 Pear Compote with Ginger, Vanilla & Lime
• 3 The Spiced Pear Margarita
• 4 Mom's Pear Skillet Cake
• 5 Roasted Pears with Lemon Stilton, Walnuts and Honey
BOTTOM ROW
• 6 Honey and Spice Poached Pears
• 7 Ginger Infused Pear Pancakes
• 8 Pear and Blue Cheese Crostata
• 9 Asian Pear, Fresh Date, and Pomegranate Salad
• 10 Pear and Currant Chutney
What do you like to do with pears?

Straw Mat from The ...

Clafoutis... One of my most fond childhood memory is my grandmother's pear clafoutis :-). I also have a recipe of creamy & sweet pear soup with gingerbread croutons, very yummy... I just love baking with pear, it has a wonderful flavor.
Smear Stilton cheese on baguette rounds and toast until the cheese bubbles and the edges are crisp. Pile toasts with pear slices sauteed in butter. Mmmm. And if you can resist eating every last pear in this manner, I like an almost-too-ripe pear in this pear vinaigrette.
This is the best pear cake! Served warm with pouring cream its the best on a cool night. It's a bit crumbly warm however once cooled in the fridge the slices are very portable.
