Since we're now into November it's safe to start thinking about gift giving for the holidays—specifically, all those handmade treats we'd love to give (and receive). When I hit up my local IKEA recently, these $5 finds sucked me in. They're the perfect containers to hold your homemade edible goodies!
These plastic containers from IKEA's PS collection come three to a package (in small, medium and large) for just $5. They are easy to assemble and secure enough to hold a salad with dressing or even a few loaves of homemade bread. Oh yeah, and cookies. Lots of cookies.

At this price it would be easy to tie up your goods in a printed tea towel or take things just as they are to a party and leave the dish behind. No muss, no fuss and you won't have to worry about them taking up space in anyone's cabinets, since they wash clean and pack flat.

Target also has a number of flat pack cardboard containers that are meant for gifting cookies and other treats, and they're cute too. They even had tube-type ones for cookies. They were in the $1 section up front by the carts where you come in.
I would definitely use these as gift receptacles if they had lids...
$5.00 for something to contain the fudge or cookies that cost maybe a buck or a buck and a half? Not for me. I haunt stores like Target for finds like Juliejulezzzzz mentions.
These are cute...you can even build them up as a gift basket and cover in cellophane. I love them!
These are cute, but will most likely end up in the recycling bin/garbage after the holidays. I've started to collect jars and other food friendly containers that can be cleaned properly and reused as gifts. Better for the planet and your budget.
I think they'd be great for gifts, serving bowls for parties(from holiday parties to birthday, sports, picnics, & poker nights), too. They would also be great for holding me craft supplies in my lap or next to me, while I work, and allow quick, easy portability room to room, or while the hubby drives, for long car rides.
