Name: Sarah
Location: Washington, D.C.
Size & Type: 48.75 square feet in a rental studio
Favorite resource: Weekend markets. (Here in DC I love Eastern Market). Great for produce and other delicious treats, funky art and accessories (for not a lot of $$), and ideas!
Inspiration: My initial inspiration came from the black and white floor, the Perrier poster I found, and my aunt's pottery, as well as traveling...

Inspiration Cont'd: As my apartment is a rental, I couldn't really do any big changes, but I love to cook so I wanted to make this a bright and happy place that draws me in and welcomes culinary creativity! It's a cheerful little nook that's a nice wake-me-up when I'm still half-asleep first thing in the morning!

Tip: Embrace, don't fight with, what you can't change. I wouldn't have fooled anyone if I had tried to ignore my black and white floor and laminate counter!

It's clean and crisp! it's like a sliced golden delicious apple!
What a fun place to cook! This is bold, bright and beautiful without being overwhelming. Congrats on a really nice kitchen!
I love your kitchen colour! I am on the verge of painting my kitchen a lime green-y colour as well... do you mind if I ask what paint colour you used?
this makes me so excited to paint my kitchen!!!!
The first word that comes to mind is Fresh! I have one accent wall in my kitchen painted a similar color (Benjamin Moore Limelight) but it doesn't quite have the same punch since the wall is covered in open shelves.
Nice job working with the black-and-white checkered tiles. The green makes it fun, instead of 50's retro (like red would have done).
Hi all,
Thanks for the kind comments! Alissa-the paint is Grape Green by Benjamin Moore. I'm so happy that you like the color-good luck painting your kitchen!
Cheers,
Sarah
Love this. I'm in a better mood just looking at it.
In a bigger, more open kitchen, that color would be obnoxious. It's a bold choice, and it looks great.
good bold color choice. reminds me of mountain dew. mountain dew makes me happy. ergo- this kitchen makes me happy.
Great work, especially with a rental.
LOVE it!
Did you put the spice rack in?
Good choice painting the doors white, looks really crisp and clean.
Actually, surprisingly, the spice rack is a built-in that was already there when I moved in-as you can imagine, I was thrilled =)
Hi,
What a fabulous kitchen :)
I wish my Dupont Circle 20' monstrosity could come somewhere near competing.
I was actually hoping you might tell me which apartment complex you live in by Eastern Market. I'm thinking about moving soon and work on 7th st SE... would love to find a building w/ bigger studios and light that lets you paint.
