5 Things You Haven’t Thought to Buy on Black Friday, But Should

It’s a specific list of product types that rule Black Friday: TVs and computers (basically, consumer electronics in general), toys and clothing. Though we cannot deny there are really great deals to be had at the expected big box stores, there are plenty of other unexpected shopping categories that are often overlooked. Here are five you should consider scooping up!

According to Dealnews.com, though deals on wine and liquor aren’t doorbuster worthy, plenty of major online or nationwide sellers like Total Wine offer discounts not regularly seen throughout the rest of the year. From Dealnews: “For example, last year Astor Wines & Spirits took 20% off everything, while in years past Groupon offered excellent credits for Wine Insider and Naked Wines. Also be on the lookout for discounted shipping from online vendors.”

If you’re hitting up the hardware emporium for appliance sales (don’t miss those if you’re remodeling!), don’t forget to pass through the power tools aisle. Home Depot hasn’t released this year’s flyer yet, but if their 2015 promotions are any indication, higher priced drills, saws, etc., will be at least 30% off.

Toothpaste, shampoo and razors may not be the sexiest items, but everyday items such as those available at CVS and Walgreens are likely to be heavily discounted during Black Friday weekend. Big drugstores are also offering hefty coupons for future purchases, so it’ll be a smart move to stock up for now (and later!)

You might not think of waiting until Black Friday weekend to book airline tickets or hotels, but it’s actually the perfect time to do so. NBCNews.com reports that “hotels and resorts, cruise lines, airlines and tour companies are all now regular and enthusiastic participants in the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales tradition, offering discounts, perks, bonuses and some offbeat travel deals.”

If you’re a DIYer or crafting enthusiast, consider lining up at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or your favorite art supply store instead of Best Buy. I always stock up on canvases, paints, brushes and beyond on BF and get a steal of a deal I simply can’t pass up.
