Wow, beautiful cakes. The only one I checked out so far is the Fondant Asparagus Cake. Oh my, that is one impressive looking piece of art! I wouldn't mind taking the time to form the asparagus stalks and dusting them with color since you can do it in advance. I'm curious though about the texture and flavor of the fondant. Is the fondant still soft or does it harden after forming it in advance. Is the flavor desirable or is it just used for appearance? I'm thinking that if I make this I might go for the buttercream icing on the cake and add the spears to that. Any thoughts?
Once the fondant dries it will become stiff and somewhat brittle so you'll need to be careful handling it. I don't think that fondant is the best tasting thing ever so dried fondant isn't on my top list of deliciousness. I'd say that it's mostly there for decoration. It's perfectly edible but I imagine most people will pick off the spears.
Really creative,hahahha~~~Love it !!!
Although these are very creative and attractive, I'm not in love with the way that fondant tastes.
The macaron cake is something I want to try for my next dinner party.
I LOVE that melted ice cream cake. A couple easy steps have such a big impact!
i think that the fondant used was made with marshmallows, which tastes quite a bit better than the kind that turned so many people off of it. It is still very sweet, but it doesn't have to be used so thick and overwhelmingly. it's easy to make and work with as well.
I'm honestly surprised there weren't more from Sweetapolita - her stuff is gorgeous, every bit of it. I can only read her blog in short bursts, because I start feeling inept after a while. That said, I LOVE the nautical birthday cake! Absolutely adorable, and so clean and simple looking.
