The small home can still have room to sit down for dinner. One furnishing that can help is a small pedestal table:
The center support allows chairs to pull up snug and the circular shape gives you more tabletop bang for your square footage buck. Here are a few we like (beginning with the second image above):
- Bradshaw Dining Table, $1499 at Room & Board
- 36" Saarinen Style Tulip Dining Table, $399 at Amazon
- Arcadia 42" Round Pedestal Table, $999 at Crate & Barrel
- BILLSTA cafe table, $199 at IKEA

Straw Mat from The ...

I have a Skovby SM32, http://www.skovby.dk/showpage.php?pageid=911 and I really like the table. Perfect for four to six, then it opens like a tulip and seats nine!
I'm looking for a white pedestal table right now! I had the Docksta from Ikea, but the paint on the top has chipped badly and the whole thing is super wobbly.
I can't afford $1500 for a real Saarinen unfortunately. Anyone have any feedback about the Saarinen style one on amazon? Or any other ideas?
swooning over the Cherner chairs...wish those were in my kitchen!
Does anybody know about the 36 inch Saarinen-style table - is it any good? I have a small dining space (too small for more than a 36 inch wide table), and I love that table's look.
Help me, I'm tired of using my card table!
Also consider this, from CB2: http://www.cb2.com/dining-tables/furniture/odyssey-white-dining-table/f1963
$199. Comes in white plus occasional seasonal colors (right now the 2nd color is grellow).
This table gets good reviews. I don't have one but wish I'd bought instead of the terminally wobbly Docksta from Ikea.
Thank you so much, @vernonlee - this does look great, and a great price!
I've read on the CB2 site that people complain of the white paint on the Odyssey table top chipping and scratching VERY easily which is why I haven't gone for it yet. Anyone have a similar experience?
