Juniper Ridge is a sweet little company out west that makes jams, teas, tinctures, incense, and herbal wreaths, all from hand-gathered herbs. Their blog, with photos of attractive and earthy young women gathering herbs and brush in the wilds of Northern California, is not to be missed.
First and foremost, they make a mouth-watering Huckleberry Jam. Once you taste this stuff, you won't ever think about grape jelly ever again. And their Douglas Fir Tea is the perfect accompaniment to a winter evening's bath. Finally, their soaps are wonderful for hand-washing in the kitchen. The Sierra Nevada Glacier Bar is a favorite.
If the fresh, natural scents and deep, woodsy flavors of these products aren't enough, here's something to feel good about: "We give 10 percent of our profits to groups that defend western wilderness, so not only are you getting exceptional products fresh from the wild, you are also helping preserve it."
