beer floats sound even better than my favorite root beer floats. we love frozen desserts too! http://thekosherfoodies.com/category/dessert/frozen/
I'm picking up an ice cream maker tomorrow--how I love craigslist.
I have a question for those of you who do this a lot--some recipes call for, say 1c of heavy cream--do you buy the pint, which is twice as big, and find a way to store the leftovers? I'm concerned it'd go bad in the fridge and you can't freeze the leftovers and thaw to use in ice cream, can you? I suspect not but since heavy cream is a bit pricey I don't want to be throwing any of it away :)
We made some goat cheese dried fig ice cream awhile back (inspired by a flavor of Jeni's ice creams). The recipe's not too tricky.
I'm pretty much in love with goat cheese ice cream now: http://byov.blogspot.com/2010/04/success-fig-goat-cheese-swirl-ice-cream.html
sweetpeacooks - I personally but it in bulk from Costco because it's the least expensive and then use the rest to make cream biscuits.... they mix in seconds and then freeze perfectly.

Can I throw another into the mix? For my friend's birthday, our fellow friend & I collaborated. She made s'mores ice cream, and I made homemade graham crackers. IT WAS THE MOST AMAZING COMBINATION!!!! Here's my blog post about it.
