Name: Jolie Location: Boston, MA Size & Type: 40 square feet in a rental 1-bedroom Favorite resource: Crate & Barrel - it's hardly a hidden gem, I know, but C&B is always a reliable source for affordable, quality products without too much pretension (I'm looking at you Williams-Sonoma). Inspiration: My cookware and appliances are totally mismatched from years of haphazard collecting, which frustrated me to no end until I had a Eureka! moment. ...

Inspiration Cont'd: The poster used to hang in my living room, but it picks up the colors of my kitchen - and more importantly, ties my hodge-podgey mélange of colorful culinary items together in a way that makes sense of it all - so I moved it to my only kitchen wall. Now I don't worry about being matchy-matchy, I just stay within the palette of the poster; an Ikea rag rug ties in the scattered pink items. I use the main workspace as a desk during the day, and as a buffet when friends come over for weekly dinners. A mini Sub-Zero resides under the the main granite workspace. Tip: Live among what you love. I try to find room in my kitchen for things that remind me of friends and family or special times in my life. Hiding things out of sight means you can't bask in their glow. - Jolie
