This Memorial Day we spent a lot of time on the beach (we got a sunburn to prove it) and had our usual picnic fare: Tuna salad in pita with heirloom tomatoes and butter lettuce, Vernor's, and cherries. It's what we've eaten for as long as we can remember for long weekends. But it got us to thinking about all the other picnics we want to plan for the summer. Here's a peek!

Ah! Chicken, beer, and innuendo -- as soon as I read it, I knew that I knew it. That needs to be my next rainy day movie
Can't wait can't wait can't wait. Last year, it was onigiri all the time, which was handy and is also our train/plane food. This year I'm thinking wedges of Spanish tortilla and pan bagnia would make me happier.
I need a good drink container! We bring iced tea (mid-day, not allowed to bring glass to the park we favor) and last year I resorted to decanting it into empty seltzer bottles. Any recommendations for pitchers that SEAL and don't weigh a ton empty?
@ cmcinnyc, Sigg makes 34 oz and 50 oz bottles that are very lightweight when empty. I'm not sure what their status is when it comes to BPA these days, but sometimes keeping up with the news about BPA disrupts me more than BPA disrupts my endocrine system ;)
