It's almost heeeere! Our annual Small, Cool Kitchens contest launches later today (look for it soon on the site), so in celebration we went through past years' contests and pulled a few favorites. Do you remember Kathleen's totally serene rental kitchen? Or Megumi's metal file cabinets that she repurposed as kitchen cabinets? Check 'em all out above, and be inspired. There's no kitchen too small for style, functionality, and some serious cooking.

Red-and-Pink-Stripe...

I'm not a big commenter here, but this post really caught my attention. As someone who has an actually small kitchen, I am astounded (maybe insulted? in the good-humored kind of way) that most of these kitchens could be called small. Mad props to folks who cook on smaller than full-size appliances--we do have those, relish them, and FULLY use them...but anyone who has more than 2-3 useful cabinets is in the money, as far as I'm concerned!
Perhaps I'm the only one, but I'd *love* to see some functional kitchens that are actually small (or tiny or teeny-tiny, if the small homes categorizations apply)!
