Faith has her avocado toast and Emma is all about the yogurt, but I'm all about the dinner foods for breakfast. Although dinner leftovers are great for lunch, I swear it feels more rebellious to eat them for breakfast instead!
Although we approached the topic a few months ago, we thought it bears repeating. With new routines and schedules starting back up with the fall season, it's easy to feel like you have to eat certain things. Cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, pancakes and eggs are always at the top of the list, but for my own personal tastes I'd much rather prefer something a little more hearty that will stick to your ribs and keep you filled even if you don't get a chance to take lunch until 3pm!
1. Fried Chicken: It's always better right out of the oil, but cold fried chicken first thing in the morning, let's just say it's a guilty pleasure. Oh, and we swear it tastes better eaten in your pajamas!
2. Cold Pizza: In any form, pizza and pizza type products are always tasty breakfast eats. They don't need to be reheated (unless you want) and pretty much qualify as the best breakfast food ever. Yup, ever.
3. Mini Meatloaf Sandwich: For dinner this can be a hearty treat and it makes the best lunch leftovers, but there's no reason you can't grab a bite for breakfast as well. A small slider version of the traditional meatloaf sandwich is a great morning treat that really hits the spot.
4. Potato Pancakes: It's no secret we love these bad boys for dinner and although they're often made for breakfast specifically, having them premade the night before, all they need is 10 seconds (per cake) in the microwave or a few minutes in the toaster oven and you've got a hashbrown to go that will knock the socks off anyone.
5. Pork Tenderloin Sandwich: Meat, bread, onions that aren't too strong, what's not to love? This can pretty much be eaten for any meal, but we enjoy this dish's simplicity.
6. Soup Over Rice: Although there's no real recipe for this one, any hot soup poured over cold rice can be quite a treat. The mixture turns a little thick and slightly sludgy, oddly reminiscent of oatmeal in texture and completely hearty.
7. Cold Macaroni & Cheese: A fork full of cold macaroni and cheese (or two or three) is all we need to keep the hamster in our head running on it's wheel. It sticks with you and kind of makes you feel like a kid all over again.
8. Cold Noodles: We're a bigger fan of Asian influenced noodles than more traditional Italian pasta, although we've been known to steal a bit of cold spaghetti straight from the fridge once in awhile, though there is a fine art to turning your head so you don't get any on you!
